American Airlines to restore seatback screens and expand premium seating on narrowbody fleet from 2028

American Airlines will bring seatback entertainment back to its narrowbody fleet and add more first-class and extra-legroom seats from 2028, reversing a cost-cutting strategy adopted nearly a decade ago. The cabin overhaul, planned for more than 800 aircraft, is aimed at attracting higher-spending customers and narrowing its profit gap with Delta and United.
