Airbus and MTU create a JV to develop and commercialize an electric hydrogen fuel-cell engine system

Airbus and MTU Aero Engines will form a joint venture focused on developing and commercializing a fully electric hydrogen fuel-cell engine system for aviation. The JV is planned to begin work in 2027 by pooling development resources, following an MoU signed at the Paris Air Show in June 2025.
