Rolls-Royce is nearing an agreement for up to £200 million ($267.9 million) in British government support to develop a new engine for short-haul aircraft, the Financial Times reported. Airbus does not expect A330neo output to reach the peak rates previously achieved by the A330. The company says production capacity has been shifted to the A350 and A320neo programs, making the change in capacity allocation permanent.
The agreement allows the U.S. Department of Defense to buy as many as 25,000 Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System laser-guidance kits a year over a term of up to seven years. BAE says the framework also provides a route to 35,000 kits annually to meet international demand.
