FCC clears Amazon Leo’s $11.5 billion acquisition of Globalstar

The Federal Communications Commission approved Amazon Leo’s deal to acquire U.S. satellite operator Globalstar, removing a key regulatory hurdle for the roughly $11.5 billion transaction. Amazon says the acquisition will support a communications network spanning satellite broadband, 5G and direct-to-device connectivity, positioning the company to compete with SpaceX’s Starlink.
