Saab signs $2.54B contract for 16 Gripen E fighters for Ukraine, with early-2029 Gripen E deliveries

Saab has signed a contract with Sweden’s Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) to deliver 16 Gripen E fighters to Ukraine in a deal worth about 24.6 billion Swedish crowns ($2.54 billion). The agreement formalizes the Gripen program for the Ukrainian Air Force, with Gripen C/D donated aircraft starting to arrive in early 2027 and Gripen E deliveries reportedly beginning in early 2029 with British support.
