A U.S. Air Force B-52 Stratofortress crashed shortly after takeoff from Edwards Air Force Base in California at about 11:20 a.m. local time, the Pentagon confirmed. Emergency crews responded at the scene; the status of the crew and whether anyone on the ground was hurt was not immediately clear.
