US investigators attributed the rupture of an American Airlines Boeing 737 MAX 8’s main-gear tires and wheels during takeoff to melted thermal relief plugs. Changing winds required the aircraft to taxi and line up on three Denver runways, prolonging ground exposure in high temperatures.
