House approves bill to pave way for civil supersonic flights over US
The House approved a bill by voice vote directing the FAA to issue rules allowing civil supersonic flights over the continental U.S. so long as operations ensure no sonic boom reaches the ground. The measure — the first step toward restoring passenger supersonic service since 1973 — passed despite climate and cost objections and now awaits Senate action.
