SpaceX’s Starlink now operates more than 10,020 satellites and serves over 10 million subscribers, while Amazon’s rebranded Amazon Leo has roughly 212 production satellites in orbit and an enterprise beta. The rapid, fourfold rise in operational satellites since 2020 is forcing incumbents and startups to pivot, raising debris, governance and competitive‑pressure risks.
