American Airlines raised checked-bag fees and tightened Basic Economy restrictions as it joins Delta, United, Southwest and JetBlue in shifting higher jet-fuel and operating costs onto passengers. The moves make baggage more expensive for lowest-fare customers and shrink Basic Economy allowances.
