BFU: Repeated Brake Inputs Preceded Vietnam Airlines 787-9 Runway Overrun at Munich

Germany’s BFU found repeated electric brake commands during Vietnam Airlines flight VN34’s Aug. 15 Boeing 787-9 takeoff from Munich, alongside a speed plateau near V1, rotation 12 knots below VR and a tailstrike. The aircraft overran the runway, destroyed 20 approach lights and caused no injuries; investigators are analyzing brake-control components.
