NTSB finds Learjet 60 tail and elevator components separated before fatal Florida crash

Investigators say parts of Learjet 60 N722BD’s tail separated before the aircraft struck the ground near West Palm Beach on Nov. 1, killing all nine aboard. Recovered elevator pieces and debris found up to 3.8 miles from the crash site offer evidence, but the NTSB has not determined whether the separation caused the loss of control or followed the aircraft’s rapid descent.
