FAA and NTSB probe Newark near‑miss after Alaska 737 overflies FedEx 777 on crossing approaches

Federal investigators are examining a close call at Newark Liberty in which an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 (reported as a MAX 9) flew over a FedEx Boeing 777F while both aircraft were on simultaneous, crossing runway approaches. The FAA and NTSB have opened investigations to determine how separation and controller coordination failed; no collision occurred.
