Valued at $425 million, the package would strengthen Copenhagen’s anti-submarine warfare, homeland defense and critical-infrastructure security capabilities.
Lockheed Martin says its Armed Black Hawk kits can convert UH-60M and S-70i helicopters into armed attack platforms in less than three hours, offering operators a rapid path to add offensive capability to existing rotary-wing fleets without replacing the underlying aircraft.
South Korea has approved the additional purchase of approximately 20 Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk helicopters, with deliveries planned by 2032. The naval warfare helicopters will replace aging Leonardo Lynx Mk.99/99A assets and strengthen the South Korean Navy’s anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare capabilities.
Manila has taken delivery of the final batch of S-70i Black Hawk helicopters, completing the latest tranche of a fleet intended for multiple missions. The aircraft support Philippine military operations as well as humanitarian assistance and disaster-relief efforts.
An MH-60 Black Hawk operated by the U.S. Army’s 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment crashed in a wooded area near Colorado’s Front Range, north of Golden Gate Canyon State Park, during a training flight. All four soldiers aboard escaped without injury.
Sikorsky has selected Česká letecká servis as its first European Union-based distribution center for Black Hawk helicopter parts. The Czech company will support regional aftermarket activity and readiness for operators, strengthening Sikorsky’s parts-distribution footprint within the EU.
A new landing structure is under construction on the White House South Lawn to prevent the Sikorsky VH-92A presidential helicopter, known as Marine One, from scorching the lawn’s verge during landing operations. The project addresses an operational issue tied to the helicopter’s exhaust effects.
Originally developed for the U.S. military, Sikorsky’s S-97 Raider uses the company’s X2 technology to demonstrate a different performance path for future helicopters. The aircraft’s development now points to the challenge of finding a new customer and translating its capabilities into a funded program.
