Dubai has secured regulatory certification for a dedicated vertiport site for electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and electric air-taxi operations, clearing it for Joby Aviation’s launch plans. The first location in a planned four-vertiport network is described as approved and ready to begin lift-off.
Boeing has updated the published performance figures for its 777X family, adding more than 700 nautical miles to the advertised range across all three variants. The change improves route flexibility and moves the aircraft closer to competitiveness versus the Airbus A350 on long-haul missions.
The UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and Skyports Infrastructure announced that VDX, positioned adjacent to Dubai International Airport, has received regulatory certification for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft operations. The vertiport is billed as the first purpose-built commercial facility to be certified for eVTOL services.
Japan’s C-2, described as the largest aircraft ever produced by a Japanese defense firm, is using the Dubai Airshow as its first major international platform to attract foreign customers. The move signals an early push to translate domestic capability into export interest.
