Tianwen-2 returns first deep-space image en route to lunar fragment asteroid
China’s Tianwen-2 probe has transmitted its first photograph from deep space as it journeys toward Kamoʻoalewa, a near-Earth asteroid potentially of lunar origin. Study of this quasi-moon target could shed new light on the Moon’s formation and early solar system processes.
