Solar Orbiter Delivers First-Ever Views of Sun’s Poles

Solar Orbiter, the ESA-NASA probe on a tilted orbit, has obtained the first images of the Sun’s north and south poles. The Extreme Ultraviolet Imager and SWAP telescope reveal complex, mixed magnetic polarities at the south pole as the star approaches its magnetic field reversal in the 11-year cycle.
