
India signs $7–7.5B contract with HAL for 97 Tejas Mk1A fighters; deliveries slated 2027–28
India's Ministry of Defence has signed a roughly $7–7.5 billion contract with state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited to procure 97 Tejas Mk1A light combat aircraft, with deliveries beginning in 2027–28. The order secures production continuity for the indigenous Tejas programme and strengthens IAF capability.
