DOT under Trump pushback on $2.5B Spirit bailout; Iran war blamed out, fares capped for rebooking
U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said the government does not need to provide a near-term bailout to low-cost carriers despite Spirit’s $2.5 billion relief request, calling the case a creditor issue and rejecting Iran-war fuel-price blame for Spirit’s shutdown.
