Porter Airlines will add nonstop service from London International Airport to destinations in Florida, Mexico and Jamaica this winter, expanding the Canadian airport’s international connectivity. The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau says an Enugu Air Embraer E170 that overran the runway in July had an unavailable autobrake system and touched down with less than a third of the runway remaining. The preliminary findings identify braking-system availability and touchdown position as central safety factors.
Investigators found that an Enugu Air Embraer 170 crossed the threshold at more than 90 feet and touched down beyond two-thirds of Benin Airport’s wet runway. The aircraft, approaching with a tailwind, was badly damaged when it overran the runway.
Portugal has designated the planned final assembly line for Embraer’s A-29N Super Tucano as a project of national public interest, advancing its ambitions to become the aircraft’s European production base and support a broader regional market for the military turboprop.
