B-52 Commercial Engine Replacement Program clears Critical Design Review; first re-engining begins later this year
The U.S. Air Force, Boeing and Rolls-Royce have completed the Critical Design Review for the B-52 Commercial Engine Replacement Program (CERP), clearing the path to modify B-52 bombers to a B-52J-standard configuration. The first test aircraft is expected to start modification later this year, beginning the engine replacement work on the initial airframe.
