Lufthansa plans 777X contingencies as Boeing delay risk threatens long-haul fleet transition
Lufthansa is refining its long-haul fleet strategy amid continued delays to the Boeing 777X and is preparing contingency plans while remaining the launch customer. The carrier’s 777X arrival is meant to retire older, less efficient widebodies, but delay risk could extend operation of aircraft types longer than planned, potentially beyond 2027.
