Broken Wire in Alternate Extension System Forces FedEx 757 Gear-Up Landing

US investigators traced the gear-up landing of a FedEx Boeing 757-200 freighter in Chattanooga to a fatigue rupture in the left main-gear door that severed a wire in the alternate undercarriage extension system. The failure prevented manual gear deployment and forced the crew to conduct a safe belly landing.
