Southwest Airlines to End Open Seating, Launch Assigned Seats and New Boarding Order
Southwest Airlines will introduce assigned seating on flights departing Jan. 27, with seat selection bookable starting July 29. The overhaul ends more than 50 years of open boarding and implements eight boarding groups under a revised process.
