Peru confirmed the purchase of 12 Lockheed Martin F-16V (Block 70) fighters in a $3.42 billion contract, announced March 20 by President José Balcázar. The jets will replace ageing MiG‑29s and Mirage 2000s after a multi‑year competition that included Saab's Gripen NG.
