GA-ASI and U.S. Air Force test fire APKWS laser-guided rockets from MQ-9A Reaper to counter drone threats
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems and the U.S. Air Force conducted MQ-9A Reaper tests firing APKWS laser-guided counter-UAS rockets at both air and ground targets during trials at the Nevada Test and Training Range. The demonstration points to a lower-cost munitions pathway for Reaper’s counter-drone niche in high-intensity conflict environments.
