Switzerland trims F‑35 buy below 36 after U.S. price increases push program past referendum budget
Switzerland will reduce its planned purchase of Lockheed Martin F‑35A fighters, accepting fewer than the 36 jets approved by a 2020 referendum, after reported U.S. cost increases between $610 million and $1.6 billion pushed the programme beyond its budget. The government said foreseeable additional costs make the planned number financially unviable.
