FAA, Pentagon sign safety agreement allowing counter-drone high-energy lasers along US–Mexico border
The FAA and the Pentagon have agreed on “proper safety controls” for a high-energy laser counter-drone system, concluding through a completed safety assessment that it poses no undue risk to passenger aircraft. The accord authorizes deployment along the southern border after earlier airspace closures near Texas.
