Finnair grounded eight Airbus A321ceos after a cleaning wash removed fire‑retardant coatings from seat covers, voiding safety certification and forcing replacement of about 1,700 covers, cancelling roughly 40 flights and disrupting more than 11,000 passengers. The airline has appointed new suppliers and expects the jets back in service by Oct. 31.
