Cabinet approves ECLGS 5.0 emergency credit line guarantee for Indian airlines as jet-fuel costs surge
India’s Cabinet has approved Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) 5.0 to provide liquidity relief to airlines hit by higher ATF prices, currency volatility and West Asia airspace restrictions. The aviation sector is earmarked ₹5,000 crore, with up to ₹1,000 crore per borrower and an additional ₹500 crore tied to equity infusion; the plan totals about $529m.
