Spain starts replacing CN-235 VIGMA with first Airbus C295 SAR/MSA for Wing 46 in the Canaries
Airbus Defence & Space delivered the first of eight C295 Maritime Surveillance Aircraft (MSA) configured for search-and-rescue (SAR) to the Spanish Air and Space Force on 24 June 2026. The aircraft will be assigned to Wing 46 in the Canary Islands, marking the start of Spain’s renewal of Atlantic-area SAR, maritime surveillance and security capabilities, replacing the CN-235 VIGMA fleet.
