United pilots CBP remote baggage screening on Sydney–San Francisco route, eliminating re-check for connecting passengers

United Airlines has begun a trial with U.S. Customs and Border Protection that lets baggage from its Sydney–San Francisco service be transferred directly to onward U.S. connections, so passengers no longer must collect and re-check bags after arrival. The process is operating on the daily SFO service for eligible itineraries.
