India signs INR623.7bn ($7–7.5bn) deal with HAL for 97 Tejas Mk1A fighters; deliveries 2027–28
India's Ministry of Defence signed a INR623.7 billion (roughly $7–7.5 billion) contract with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited for 97 Tejas Mk1A light combat aircraft. Deliveries are slated to begin in 2027–28, extending the indigenous fighter programme and bolstering Indian Air Force strength.
